Juicy Flavorful Italian Turkey Burgers

Juicy Flavorful Italian Turkey Burgers

My mathematical brain loves to find a recipe online that doesn't seem too hard or that will take too long, but I struggle with turkey recipes.

Ground turkey is such a flavorless meat that no matter what recipe I try, it always comes out too dry or bland. So many regrets.

Earlier this week, I found myself staring into my fridge at a package of ground turkey and regretted buying it. But I was committed - I don't like throwing out food and sticking it in the freezer would just prolong the misery.

So I decided to do something different.

I didn't look up new recipes looking for inspiration. I just started pulling ingredients out of my fridge and pantry. Then I went out to my garden and cut some fresh herbs and green onions. I took a gamble and was absolutely amazed at the results.

This is the first time I've ever made a turkey burger and really enjoyed it! It was juicy and filled with flavor. David and I had the extra burgers for lunch the next day and they still tasted amazing!

If you struggle with dry, flavorless ground turkey - this is the recipe for you!

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1/2 cup fresh parsley
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro
  • 1/4 cup yellow onion
  • 4 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 4 green onions
  • 1 sprig fresh rosemary
  • 3 tablespoons Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon Himalayan salt
  • 2 tablespoons basil infused extra virgin olive oil (plain EVOO is fine!)
  • Italian breadcrumbs as needed

Directions:

Break up the ground turkey in a bowl on the counter and set it aside to make the seasoning.

Take all of the other ingredients except the breadcrumbs and blend together in a food processor or mixer. When it's fully mixed, the seasoning should look like a nice pesto sauce.

Using your hands, mix the seasoning into the ground turkey until it is evenly disbursed. If the mixture is too wet, you can add some Italian breadcrumbs until you reach your desired consistency.

Separate the mixture into four sections. Roll and press each to create your turkey burgers.

We used a grill pan on the stove, but a skillet will work just fine or throw them on the grill outside!

Cook to an internal temperature of 165 degrees and let rest for five minutes to let the juices set.

Serve in a lettuce wrap or your choice of bun. We used a toasted onion roll for ours.

Top with whatever fixings you like!

Simple, quick and so flavorful!

Try it and let us know what you think!
